Overview

This Level 3 NVQ Painting and Decorating qualification is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career within the Construction industry. The course supports the knowledge and Skills development requirements for access to all levels into the Painting and decorating working environment. You need to be employed to study this qualification.

You will gain the knowledge and skills to prepare and protect the work and surrounding area, prepare a range of surfaces wood, metal and plastered surfaces, apply paint systems by brush and roller, apply coverings to ceilings and walls, erect and dismantle access working platforms, prepare for and apply specialist decorative finishes, apply stencils, apply paint systems by use of HVLP spray equipment and apply paint systems by the airless spray method.

It is expected that learners have successfully gained the Level 2 qualification before progressing to Level 3 or have substantial industry experience in this field.

The course is assessed through a series of competence based assessments within College and the work place and end of unit tests

Achievement of this qualification will enable the learner to follow a career in Painting & Decorating. On completion students can progress onto Higher Education qualifications such as Level 4/5 Foundation Degree programmes.

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and Information Technology. Specialist Heritage skills (60067664) are offered an Additionality.
