Overview

CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for launching IT careers into today’s digital world. The only credential with performance-based items to prove pros can think on their feet to perform critical IT support tasks in the moment trusted by employers around the world to identify the go-to person in end point management & technical support roles. Regularly re-invented by IT experts to ensure that it validates core skills and abilities demanded in the workplace.

Within the CompTIA A+ certification you will cover the following topics:

  • Hardware: Identifying, using, and connecting hardware components and devices.
  • Operating systems: Install and support Windows OS including command line & client support. Understand Mac OS, Linux and mobile OS Software
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot PC and mobile device issues including application security support
  • Networking: Explain types of networks and connections including TCP/IP, WIFI and SOHO
  • Hardware & Network Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot device and network issues
  • Security: Identify and protect against security vulnerabilities for devices and their network connections
  • Mobile Devices: Install & configure laptops and other mobile devices
  • Virtualization & Cloud Computing: Compare & contrast cloud computing concepts &set up client-side virtualization
  • Operational Procedures: Follow best practices for safety, environmental impacts, and communication and professionalism

Year One

  • CompTIA A+ 220-901 - PC Hardware and Peripherals
  • CompTIA A+ 220-901 - Mobile Device Hardware
  • CompTIA A+ 220-901 - Networking and Troubleshooting Hardware Connectivity Issues
  • CompTIA A+ 220-902 - Installing and Configuring Operating Systems including Windows, iOS, Android, Apple OS X and Linux. It also addresses security, the fundamentals of cloud computing and operational procedures.

Having worked in the IT field or having a real interest/passion in computing hardware/software technologies.

Completion of coursework practical activities, and multiple choice exams. For the professional CompTIA A+ certification there are two external exams with multiple choice questions (single and multiple response), drag and drops and performance-based questions.

CompTIA A+ certification paves the way to other CompTIA certification such as: Network+. Pursue a career in Field Service Technician, PC or Support Technician, Security Technician.

To achieve accreditation students will have to sit two exams. *Days and times subject to change.
