Funding Support for Students
This one-year course is suited to students interested in a career in the nail and beauty industries. Students will be trained in a realistic working environment in the College’s state-of-the-art salons. Students will experience the normal day-to-day running of a beauty salon and will engage with customers and potential employers. This will ensure students are ready to begin an exciting journey within the nail and beauty industry.
The course focuses on practical learning and an insight to the innovative beauty industry. Students will gain practical skills in nail technology, nail art, fashion and photographic make-up, facials, manicure, pedicure, eyelash, and brow treatments. The course will also provide knowledge on health and safety, promotion of products and services as well as reception skills. Students will also have the opportunity to showcase practical skills.
Applicants need at least 6 points at GCSE level, for example 2 Grade C or 3 Grade D. Successful applicants will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT if they do not have a GCSE grade C in English, Maths, or IT.
All applicants must attend a pre-entry guidance session. This criterion may increase subject to demand for places.
A combination of practical observations, written tasks and on-line theory tests are used to assess this qualification.
On completion of this course students will be eligible to enter employment in Nail/Beauty Salons or the Cosmetic Industry. Alternatively, students may wish to further their studies by progressing onto the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, or programmes in Nail Technology or Hair and Media Make-up.
The College will enhance the learning experience of students by providing opportunities to gain additional qualifications, engage with industry experts and participate in workshops relevant to the industry.
Students will have the opportunity to gain qualifications in Numeracy, Literacy, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) if required.
